[00:13]<Craig> its ok BC, I learned and got it fixed :)
[00:42]<@BC_Programming> well I'm here now in case I'm still needed
[00:43]<Craig> :P
[00:43]<Craig> Why can my Ubuntu server only see 2GB ram when I have 6GB installed?
[00:43]<Craig> (64bit)
[00:43]<@BC_Programming> no idea
[00:43]<Craig> heh
[00:44]<Craig> ... I think I am just gonna have to reinstall Ubuntu, Its a new motherboard... its acting weird...
[00:45]<Craig> 4 dimms, 2 sticks of 2GB each and I had two other 1GB sticks installed but its not seeing all of them...
[00:45]<@BC_Programming> ahh
[00:45]<@BC_Programming> you need the "bigmem" kernel
[00:45]<@BC_Programming> but that's weird because I would think it would come with it
[00:47]<@BC_Programming> not sure if this will help:http://serverfault.com/questions/25366/linux-only-detects-2gb-of-ram-with-4-installed-i386-debian-lenny
[00:50]<Craig> I am running 10.04 though
[00:51]<@BC_Programming> actually it must be something else, bigmem kernel is only for 32-bit
[00:51]<Craig> Ah,
[00:51]<Craig> Cool, cause it did see 4GB before on the other board,
[00:52]<Craig> and this is the same kind of board, only better.
[00:53]<Craig> I think I am gonna reinstall anyway, :P Gonna test my skills make sure I am ok with this setup before I do the church serer
[00:53]<Craig> server*
[00:54]<@BC_Programming> I assume the BIOS sees the memory?
[00:55]<Craig> Thats a safe assumption :)
[00:57]<Craig> And Memtest see's all 6GB
[00:57]<Craig> :)
[01:00]<@BC_Programming> k... where in Linux is it saying 2GB
[01:00]<Craig> Uhhh through Webmin which reports it right from the main Kernel
[01:02]<Craig> Which is better ext3 or 4?
[01:03]<@BC_Programming> ext4 I would guess
[01:03]<Craig> Ah
[01:05]<@BC_Programming> I think that is what I am using on my laptop
[01:06]<Craig> Cool,
[01:07]<Craig> I remember something from some time ago about 3 and 4 but I forget what it said... :S
[03:01]<@BC_Programming> hmm... my mouse batteries died and I don't have any spares :/
[03:03]<@BC_Programming> and all my wired mice are broken, lol... or Serial mice
[03:11]<@BC_Programming> disaster averted, found two fully charged batteries

[11:38]<@BC_Programming> greetings camerongray
[11:41]<+camerongray> Hey
[11:42]<Tux2> lol, the new guy, buildguy got stuck in mulreay's world because the portal wasn't built yet, so I had to rescue him...
[11:44]<+camerongray> lol
[11:44]<@BC_Programming> heh
[11:44]<+camerongray> grr - I hate Toshiba laptops - Have one to fix, the keyboard connector is so fiddly
[11:44]<@BC_Programming> you should see the older ones
[11:44]<@BC_Programming> insanity
[11:44]<+camerongray> lol
[11:44]<@BC_Programming> I have no idea how to take it apart
[11:44]<+camerongray> The board wasn't working at all, resated and now SOME work
[11:44]<Tux2> lol
[11:45]<@BC_Programming> I mean, sure, take the screws out right
[11:45]<@BC_Programming> easy as pie
[11:45]<@BC_Programming> but no
[11:45]<@BC_Programming> first, I lose half the screws in the process--- not the laptops fault but bears mention
[11:45]<Tux2> You should see the older sony vaios
[11:45]<@BC_Programming> then nothing comes apart, what are the screws for? no idea
[11:45]<@BC_Programming> although now the front bezel that is in front of the keyboard pops off easily
[11:45]<+camerongray> Doesn't help when it is full of make-up
[11:46]<@BC_Programming> haha
[11:47]<+camerongray> My room literally smells of perfume
[11:48]<@BC_Programming> here is one quirk that continuously annoys me with .NET
[11:48]<@BC_Programming> the transform functions
[11:48]<@BC_Programming> RotateTransform(angle) seems straightforward enoug
[11:48]<@BC_Programming> enough
[11:48]<@BC_Programming> but no, you have to pass the angle in degrees
[11:49]<@BC_Programming> WHY? every single other trig thing in the framework takes radians like a sane language ought to
[11:49]<@jacky_away> be back later
[11:49] * jacky_away (the_kink@mib-F13F57D4.slsbmd.east.verizon.net) has left #glitchpc
[11:49]<@BC_Programming> but no, this lone graphics method wants degrees, which isn't so bad, except it's not even documented
[11:50]<@BC_Programming> oh wait, it is documented
[11:50]<@BC_Programming> "Angle of rotation in degrees. "
[11:50]<@BC_Programming> still doesn't make a whole lot of sense, consistency wise
[11:50]<Tux2> lol, yeah.
[11:51]<@BC_Programming> anyway I'm adding hilarious easter eggs to the splash screen
[11:53]<+camerongray> I can get some keys working but others don't
[11:53]<+camerongray> Then I reseat it and some that worked don't and some that didn't now do
[11:54]<Tux2> did you clean the contacts and blow it out with some air?
[11:54]<+camerongray> Yepper
[11:54]<Tux2> :S
[11:55]<+camerongray> Might try again with some alcohol
[11:55]<+camerongray> As in to clean the contacts :P
[11:55]<@BC_Programming> no no... don't think you need to turn to drinking yet
[11:55]<@BC_Programming> aww you beat me...
[11:58]<+camerongray> What's the best way to clean in the slot?
[11:58]<@BC_Programming> what slot?
[11:59]<Tux2> Um, I don't really know cam
[12:00]<+camerongray> lol
[12:00]<+camerongray> The thing for the ribbon cable
[12:00]<+camerongray> The connector on the cable is quite corroded - Dull grey rather than silver/gold
[12:01]<@BC_Programming> sounds like one of my SNES games
[12:02]<@BC_Programming> but yeah.. no clue. if it's anything like a add-on card in construction you could use a pencil eraser
[12:02]<@BC_Programming> brb gotta restart

[12:40]<@bc_programming> sigh
[12:41]<@bc_programming> updating VMWare borked a crapload of stuff
[12:43]<@bc_programming> but I fixed it... by disabling all the VMWare network crap in device manager, which wouldn't start unless I logged in as admin and ended explorer.exe and then started devmgmt.msc from there
[12:43]<Craig> Hey BC,m
[12:43]<Craig> Reinstalling Ubuntu fixed the ram issues,:P
[12:43]<@bc_programming> hi Craig
[12:43]<@bc_programming> Oh cool :D
[12:44]<@bc_programming> too bad it isn't always that simple eh?
[12:44]<Craig> Now on to my resetting up the server
[12:44]<Craig> hahahah yeah
[12:44]<Craig> Seems to me that ubuntu is percentage based on Ram useage and also on harddrive space usage.
[12:44]<Craig> :P
[12:47]<@bc_programming> oh wow isn't the java updater clever
[12:47]<@bc_programming> it says there is a new update available, java 6 update 26
[12:48]<@bc_programming> I guess it's too stupid to understand that java 7 is newer -_-
[12:49]<Craig> I don't think it will update a major version until its got compatability almost down pat
[12:49]<@bc_programming> no I mean I have java 7 installed
[12:50]<@bc_programming> and it wants to "update" to 6
[12:50]<Craig> BAHAHAHAH I kinda figured your issue was different... :P
[12:51]<Tux2> lol...
[12:52]<Craig> Tux! Where were you last night when I needed you... :P
[12:52]<@bc_programming> heh
[12:52]<Tux2> :S at a friend's house...
[12:52]<Tux2> Why, what happened?
[12:52]<Craig> :P Nah, just had a few curious happenings when I changed out my motherboard on my Ubuntu Server. :P
[12:53]<Tux2> ah...
[12:53]<Tux2> hardware changes, no matter what the OS, are always fun
[12:54]<Craig> How do you control a domain with a DNS server? What has to be active on the domain ?
[12:55]<sonicrules1234> Tux2: Something's wrong with the industrialcraft server
[12:55]<sonicrules1234> Every time I mine a block, it reappears
[12:55]<Tux2> Okay, I'll take a look.
[12:55]<sonicrules1234> Thanks
[12:56]<Tux2> I also added a custom coded creeper nerf, so maybe that's why...
[12:56]<Craig> did you move away from spawn?
[12:56]<sonicrules1234> Craig: Yes
[12:56]<Craig> :P
[12:56]<sonicrules1234> I was able to mine this area about a minute ago
[12:57]<Tux2> sonicrules1234, try now
[12:57]<Craig> Hey is Camerongray online, or just here?
[12:57]<sonicrules1234> Still doesn't work
[12:58]<Tux2> he was here a little while ago...
[13:00]<Tux2> lol, he hit the spawn boundary
[13:02]<sonicrules1234> Wow, my first mine must have went straight through the middle of the borders
[13:03]<@bc_programming> so Craig was right, haha
[13:03]<Craig> HAHAHAHAHAHAAH
[13:07]<@bc_programming> well fixed my desktop anyway
[13:07]<@bc_programming> seems that the old VMWare network driver thing didn't get uninstalled when I removed the old version, and the new version of the driver and the old one were fighting.. which brought everything to a standstill

[13:38]<Craig> Welcome Back Cameron
[13:38]<Craig> You still want to run Coding Cafe?
[13:38]<Craig> I can give you FTP and Apache Accesss
[13:42]<@BC_Programming> haha... I just realized something that could be rather inconvenient
[13:43]<@BC_Programming> the inter-server "battle" thing is happening on Thursday... which is the same day minecraft 1.7 is being released...
[13:43]<Craig> ?
[13:43]<Craig> HAHAHAHA That would be problematic :P
[13:44]<@BC_Programming> did you hear they are making 1.7 just pistons and a few other fixes, and making 1.8 the adventure update?
[13:44]<+camerongray> Yeh - Possibly
[13:44]<Craig> no?
[13:44]<@BC_Programming> Craig: well... you have now, heh
[13:44]<+camerongray> But will be after the summer - working :P
[13:44]<+camerongray> And I hate this toshiba
[13:45]<Craig> Ahh ok
[13:45]<Craig> No worries
[13:45]<+camerongray> I'm thinking that the cable was lose so it didn't work so the punched it
[13:45]<+camerongray> The board has dents on the base
[13:45]<+camerongray> And some keys don't work
[13:45]<+camerongray> And the b key is hyper sensitive and always puts more than one in
[13:46]<+camerongray> Ahh well
[13:46]<+camerongray> New board time
[13:48]<+camerongray> It's those silver celeron based Toshibas
[13:48]<+camerongray> I see so many of them broken
[13:48]<+camerongray> Worst build quality I have seen - everything flexes
[13:48]<@BC_Programming> mine is black
[13:49]<+camerongray> lol
[13:49]<@BC_Programming> but it's screen is glossy >:(
[13:49]<+camerongray> Same with this
[13:49]<+camerongray> The keyboard flexes so much
[13:50]<+camerongray> And the mouse buttons are horrible - It's like they used those 10p push switches like you get as an on button on a laptop - Really short travel and loud click
[14:16]<@BC_Programming> hmm I appear to now have broken the binding to show mintmenu with Control+Windows key
[14:21]<+camerongray> lol
[14:26]<@BC_Programming> never mind, now It doesn't appear at all, lol
